How to make a Nether Reactor!

Just a few things to note...
  • Make sure your Nether Reactor isn't near your house or whatever. Trust me, I made the same mistake.
  • You don't actually go to the nether. Instead, there is a pile of obsidian and a load of free resources like glowstone dust, sugar canes, cacti etc fly out. If you are not on peaceful mode then there will be a bunch of zombie pigmen.
Step 1: Make a Nether Reactor Core (requires three diamond and six iron).

Step 2: Make a + shape with some cobblestone on the ground.

Step 3: Place gold blocks in the corners inside the + shape.

Step 4: Place a block of cobblestone on top of each gold block.

Step 5: Place the Nether Reactor Core in the middle.

Step 6: Make a + shape with cobblestone on top.

Now you have finished, simply tap the Nether Reactor Core to start!

Ever wondered what would come next in new Pocket Edition updates? Well, here is a list of possible things that could be added in the next update! Enjoy!

  • Eggs to spawn mobs
  • Pistons
  • Music
  • Use bone meal to make mushrooms and red mushrooms

Minecraft Pocket Edition Sugar Cane Seed!

Here is a Pocket Edition seed that has quite a lot of sugar cane on it. I'd save it because in later updates you could be able to make sugar cane farms!

Minecraft PE Tips and Tricks

How to Fly on Creative Mode

Double-tap the button in the center of the arrows on the screen.

Killing Mobs Tips

I suggest use a sword to kill them quicker. Stone swords and iron swords take longer to kill zombies then gold and diamond swords but only by one or two hits. Just remember, light kills zombies and stops them spawning. Even though, putting a torch near a zombie wont kill it, it'll only stop more zombies spawning around the torch.

How to Survive Lava (Kind of)

If there is water nearby, GET TO IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. The lava will quickly eat up all your lives, but if you get to water in time you shouldn't die.

How to Find Coal and Iron without Tunnelling

Find a mountain or cave and area of stone and search for coal/iron on it. Generally gold and diamond is found deeper underground, so you'll have to tunnel for those.

Tool Uses List

Axes: Mine tree wood faster. Mine wooden planks faster. Mine fences faster. Mine any other wood-related objects faster.
Pickaxe: Mine stone faster. Mine coal faster. Mine iron faster. Mine gold faster. Mine diamond faster. Mine any other stone-related object faster.
Shovel: Mine soil/grass faster. Mine snow faster. Mine snow as a resource. Mine sand faster. Mine any other grain-related object faster.
Sword: Kill zombies faster. Kill other people faster.

How to Throw Items/Remove them from the hotbar

Hold your finger on the item for a while until your guy throws it.

Tips for Collecting Resources

Here is a list of tips on collecting resources!

My Tips
  • Stay on Peaceful Mode because you won't have to worry about them spawning and if you are half-way across the map and it's getting dark, you can just dump a bed right there and sleep.
  • Dig straight down from where you are.
  • Grow trees all around your house.
  • Craft tools out of iron and diamond because they last longer and are stronger (gold is strong but it doesn't last very long).
  • When starting a new world, collect wood. Then craft a wooden pickaxe too mine stone. When you have enough stone, craft a stone pickaxe. Use it to find iron. Craft an iron pickaxe to mine gold and diamond. When you have gold and diamond, craft gold and diamond pickaxes. It helps trust me.
This list will be extended if I can think of anything. Comment your tips and I'll add them along with your name to this post.

Your Tips
  • Well before you get to the iron pickaxe you should better find some coal first, so you can make torches.

Things-To-Know About Creative Mode

Just a couple of things to keep in mind for people who don't know much about Creative Mode.
  • Multiplayer clients can still die from things like lava etc.
  • Double tap the middle button to fly.
  • Hold your finger on the middle button and then drag it up on to the up button to fly up.
  • Hold your finger on the middle button and then drag it down on to the down button to fly down.
  • All blocks are unlimited.
  • Monsters can't be found on Creative Mode.
  • On Creative Mode it will never go dark.
  • Multiplayer hosts can't die, unlike clients.
  • Blocks can be mined faster. They can be mined even faster if they require tools on Survival Mode.
If there is anything new, I'll update you on it.

Known Bugs on the Game

  • Mobs often spawn inside lit buildings
  • Multiplayer clients often are knocked far away by the host
  • When charging the bow, sometimes things (flowers and torches) are mined and others (sand, soil etc) are half-mined

This post will be updated soon.

How to Make a Mob Spawner

Ever seen on Minecraft for Xbox and PC people can build mob spawners so zombies etc just come right out of it? Well, you can build a proper mob spawner of Pocket Edition, but you can make a fairly good make-shift one. These instructions will also show you how to make a trap for mobs, too.

Step 1: Build a fairly large room completely out of cobblestone.

Step 2: Make a 2x2 hole on one side of the building (not the roof!).

Step 3: Above the hole, place 2x2 blocks (if this step confuses you, here is a picture to show you what I mean).

Step 4: Under the thing-you-made-in-step-three, make a hole three blocks deep. Make it the same width/length of the thing-you-made-in-step-three. Still confused? Here is a picture to show you.

Step 5: Put a fence around the hole to stop spiders from escaping.

Step 6: That's pretty much it! Just to be sure, here is an image of a mob spawner I made. If it doesn't look similar to this, there is something not right about it.

Also, here is some images of zombies and stuff trapped inside the hole.

Enjoy your mob spawner!

(If anything on the game changes to improve/change the mob spawner, I will update this post about it.)

List of Ores Available

Pocket Edition doesn't have that many ore types. Here is a list of ores and what they can be used for.

Coal

Used for: Torches
Colour: Black
Rarity: Common

Coal is used to craft torches and is the most commonly found ore on the game. It is also good for burning things in furnaces as it lasts for a while before being completely burned.

Iron

Used For: Tools, Weapons, Iron Blocks, Shears
Colour: Cream
Rarity: Uncommon

Iron is used to craft hoes, pick axes, axes, shovels, shears and swords. It must be smelted in a furnace before crafting with it.

Gold

Used For: Tools, Weapons, Gold Blocks
Colour: Gold
Rarity: Rare

Gold is used to craft hoes, pick axes, axes, shovels and swords. It must be smelted in a furnace before crafting with it.

Diamond

Used For: Tools, Weapons, Diamond Blocks
Colour: Light Blue
Rarity: Scarce

Diamond is used to craft hoes, pick axes, axes, shovels and swords. It must be smelted in a furnace before crafting with it. Diamond is one of the rarest ores on Minecraft.

Redstone

Used For: Nothing at the moment.
Colour: Red
Rarity: Rare

Redstone currently has no uses on Minecraft Pocket Edition and can't be mined.

Lapis Lazuli

Used For: Creating dyes, Lapis Lazuli blocks
Colour: Blue
Rarity: Scarce

Lapis Lazuli is used to colour wool. It can be mixed with bone meal or other dyes to create secondary dyes.

Things that can Hurt your Minecraft Dude

I'm just going to list all the things that can take health from your dude. Some are things you will already know and some, you may not know or never experienced.
  • Skeletons fire arrows at you
  • Spiders jump at you (only at night or when provoked)
  • Zombies just kinda hit you
  • Burning in lava
  • Drowning underwater
  • Falling from heights
  • Getting hit by another dude in multiplayer
  • Touching cacti
Don't do/go near any of these and you should be safe. For now.

Thursday 23 August 2012

The Cactus Trap

Step 1: Dig a fairly deep hole (can be any width you want, depending on how many cacti you have) which goes down.

Step 2: Make sure one side of the hole has a in one block higher than the rest (meaning the edge - at the top - of the hole). This is so the victim won't see the hole. If this hole is for mobs, ignore this step.

Step 3: fill the bottom of the hole with cacti.

Step 4: Now just wait until the victim falls to his/her death!

This cactus trap is a simple and easy/quick to make version. Check out Youtube or whatever to find better cactus traps.

New Update coming out in September

Since this update brings out a lot of things that Xbox and PC Minecraft have, there is not much left to release. Or is there? Some Minecraft PE players don't know much about what you can get on PC and Xbox Minecraft so they don't know what to expect. Here is a list of new things that could be added in a further update:
  • Tracks and minecarts (often used for rollercoasters).
  • Mobs: mooshroom, ocelot (cat), squid, villager, enderman, wolf (dog), zombiepigman, blaze, cave spider, ghast, magma cube, silverfish, slime, spider jockey, snow golem, iron golem and ender dragon
  • New furniture
  • Minecarts and Tracks
