Mining Tips for Beginners (PC Only)

So, you have just got your new Minecraft PC game? And you're struggling to find resources? Well, here is a beginners guide to mining! Hope you find this useful!

  • Before starting, collect lots and lots of wood.
It is an easy resource to collect and you can get loads within a few minutes. You will need to is craft sticks - which are useful for making new tools and torches. Make sure you have about 3-4 stacks before you begin mining.
  • Turn peaceful mode on
This is advised for new people as the monsters inside the caves can kill you, and for a beginner, it'll be hard to kill them first. To turn peaceful on, press 'esc' and click the button that says either 'Easy', 'Medium' and 'Hard' until is turns to peaceful.
  • Go in order of rarity
First, collect some stone, which is the normal grey stuff. Use a crafting table to make a stone pickaxe. Then, search the higher parts of caves for coal (the black stuff in the stone). After gaining about 64 coal, begin with iron (the orangeish stuff). After getting about half a stack, make an iron pickaxe. Now, you can explore deeper into the caves. You can find gold (the yellow stuff), diamond (the light blue stuff), lapis lazuli (the blue stuff) and redstone (the red stuff). With a diamond pickaxe, you can make a super strong pickaxe and mine obsidian.
  • Watch out when digging up
Gravel could fall down and suffocate you! So move a little bit away when mining upward.
  • Watch out for lava
Be very careful digging down, there is nearly always some lava lurking, especially near the bottom. Lava can kill you, so avoid it. It can be collected in a bucket though. If you escape lava quick enough and hurry into water, you'll probably live, but I wouldn't risk it!

When I think of more tips, I'll add!

Minecraft PC Update 1.6.1 Opinions

My Opinion

I assume that a lot of people like to share their opinions of things online and getting agreements and disagreements here and there. I got bored at home one night so I just decided to share my opinion of the most recent PC update with you guys.

There are good points. The horses are a good, speedy mode of transport and the donkeys are great for carrying supplies as you travel. The horses have clearly encouraged leads, which are very useful and are fun to take dogs on walks with. Also, the name tags are very useful. I thought the idea of sticking a spawn egg in an anvil was inconvenient in some ways because you couldn't name already-spawned animals or animals which were bred to be made. Some other minor features are alright too.

There are also bad points. Animals automatically come off their leads when left too long. Also, placing leads on and off fences can be agitating and sometimes meaning you have to lead all your animals again before they escape. This update can cause lag, requiring you to download an optimizer off the Internet or being forced into switching off most video settings.

In conclusion, the new update is pretty sick.
